Meaux to Lagney

Max’s birthday, … and after leaving Chateau Theriey we arrived at St-Jean-les-Deux-Jumeaux. Decided to do a little maintenance and cleaned the shower pump, ( so now the shower drains well again) and checked the diesel levels…….OOPPSS, !!!. Maybe our measuring parafnailier isn’t what it should be and we only actually have miminal diesil.

Off we go, Max in a sweat to try to find a petrol station with no luck. We ask in a little tabac if there is a taxi service and after much non french communications and help from customers, he offers to drive after he closes up at 8.30pm, the 5 mins away to a Carrefour to fill our jerry cans. So 9pm and 40 litres later max celebrates his birthday with spaghetti on toast and a bottle of champagne.

Our only neighbours, Francois and Sylvie Cormier offer to go slow with us to the next town. On the way they talk to the lock keeper and hey very kindly arrange for us to have a diesel truck delivery…. we are saved and vow to sort out a better way to measure our tank levels….

We arrive safely in Meaux, a beautiful town and a lovely marina. Bart and Lia join us and will stay for a week with us, going through to Paris and then down to the south.

Bart cooked up a fabulous meal of Calamari and Clamd and then a wander into town to walk it off. When they arrived they also bougfht with them a few cases of CAVA ( Spanish Champagne ). Greta stuff.

Next day had to search Meaux for a chandelry. Found one and bought a portable VHF system as we chopped off the old one when we took the top down to enable us to get under all bridges and tunnels.
