Macon.
Stayed here on a lovely little pontoon,(free) right beside some local cafes, and with a great view of the main bridge at night. Terry and Colleen still on board.
We spent a great few days wandering around Macon, and of course eating and sampling a small amount of liquid refreshments.
Macon is in the middle of the wine areas from Bourgogne, going south through the Maconnais to the Beaujolais region. We have sampled so many really good wines from the great houses around here, like the Morgan, Julienas, Chenas, Brouilly, Chassangne-Montrachet, Beaunne, Santanay, Fleurie, to name a few and have gone up with our wine budget to buy these amazing smooth wines, ( up to 5 euros!!!)
This is an ancient Renaissance house built entirely from carved wooden panels, depicting grotesque and fantastic animals and characters.
We sampled a meal at The Tete de Lard, right next to our mooring. ( The Pigs Head, an interesting name for a cafe.)
The fishermen start early here!!
What OHS wouldn’t want to see!!!!
This is pretty self explanatory in a chemist window!!! ( only the french!!)
Now leaving Macon .. onwards to LYON….
Trevoux
Arrived and stayed for 2 days. A big flea market planned for the Sunday, which delighted Colleen and Max. (shopping done!!)
Wandered about, again these old villages with cobbled street and very little vehicle access.
Supper time.
And the last night!!
Terry doing his duty and getting rid of the evidence.
Next stop Lyon.
